Description: Washingtonia Robusta (Mexican fan palm)
This Palm has a tapering shaggy trunk with large fan shaped bright green leaves.
Plant in Fertile well drained soil in full sun.
If protected from frost this beautiful palm can reach about 70ft with a 13ft spread.
Water before planting.
Quite a fast grower, but can be contained very well in a large pot.
Once established expect about 1ft per year growth.
In the UK they can take -5'C but do get their leaves burned if they get colder.
They can be left outside but in winter it is advisable to cover the whole plant in a couple of layers of fleece to keep the cold out.
The plant provided are from the same growing as the photo.
The plant from soil to leaf tip are minimum of 12inches (as of October 09)
The plant will be sent bare root with the roots wrapped in moss.
On arrival soak the roots for about 1 hour before planting or potting up.
